Douglas Geers is an American composer. Founder of the Spark Festival.
==Career==
Geers is an Associate professor of music composition and Director of the Brooklyn College Center for Computer Music (BC-CCM) at the City University of New York, Brooklyn College (USA). He previously was a professor of music at the University of Minnesota (Minneapolis, USA), where he founded the Spark Festival of Electronic Music and Arts〔“3rd Spark Festival of Electronic Music and Art,” A. William Smith, Computer Music Journal, Volume 28, Issue 4.〕 and was its Director from 2003-2009.〔http://www.spark.cla.umn.edu/about.php〕 Geers also is a member of the (Electric Music Collective )〔http://www.emcollective.org/doug.html〕 and the electroacoustic band, (Sønreel ).〔“Festival Embodies a Range of Media: Music for ‘the brain,’ ‘the feet’ and ‘the gut’,” George Varga, San Diego Union Tribune, October 7, 2005.〕
